Calibán is the official publication of the Latin American Psychoanalytic Federation (FEPAL), an organization affiliated with the International Psychoanalytic Association (IPA). It has been published regularly since 1994, formerly under the title Revista Latinoamericana de Psicoanálisis (Latin American Journal of Psychoanalysis).

Its editorial approach aims to promote the dissemination and development of Latin American psychoanalytic thought in its specificity and to foster dialogue with psychoanalysis from other latitudes. It seeks to stimulate reflection and debate by integrating issues relevant to psychoanalysis into contemporary scientific, cultural, social, and political contexts. It is published semiannually: the first period is January-June, and the second period is July-December. Each issue will include articles in the form of essays, scientific articles, interviews, reviews, or others that the editors deem relevant.

It is operated on a non-profit basis and has a Diamond Open Access model for dissemination. Authors will not be charged with Article Processing Charges (APCs) at any time, nor will readers be required to pay for online access to digital publications.

The opinions expressed in each work (including those of the people interviewed) are the sole responsibility of the author. Its publication in Calibán – Revista Latinoamericana de Psicoanalisis does not imply in any way that its editors share the concepts expressed.
