The aim of this editorial proposal is to foster the spread and development of Latin American psychoanalytic thinking in its specificity and to promote its interaction with psychoanalysis from other parts of the world. It seeks to encourage reflection and debate by inserting issues relevant to psychoanalysis into contemporary scientific, cultural, social and political contexts. It is published every six months. Each issue will include articles with the format of an essay, a scientific article, an interview, a review or other formats deemed appropriate by the Editors.
The opinions expressed in each work (including those of the people interviewed) are the sole responsibility of the author. Its publication in Calibán – Revista Latinoamericana de Psicoanalisis does not imply in any way that its editors share the concepts expressed.
1_ The papers submitted to Arguments must be unpublished. However, if the editors consider them of special interest, essays that were either published or presented at conferences, roundtables, and so on may be included, accompanied by the specification of the place and date where they were originally published or read.
2_ If authors include clinical material, they must take the strictest measures to preserve the identity of the patients, and they are exclusively responsible for complying with the necessary procedures to achieve confidentiality or obtain consent.
3_ Submitted papers will be independently reviewed, following the “double blind” method, by at least two members of the journal’s Reviewing Committee, who may offer recommendations toward the potential publication of the articles. The evaluation will be based on measurable criteria, and the resulting acceptance, rejection, or request for changes or elaborations will be the responsibility of the journal’s reviewers, who must make their suggestions to the Editorial Committee. The editors will decide whether or not to publish them based on the appropriateness of the topic and the journal’s scope.
4_ Papers must be written in Spanish or Portuguese. In specific cases, original works may be published in other languages.
5_ Papers must be sent to de following
A_ original article with the author’s name, institutional affiliation, email address (at the end of the first page), and forty-five word bio.
B_ anonymous version with pseudonym and no references that may identify the author. References to the author in the digital file properties must be eliminated.
Both versions must have the following format: Word document, A4 paper, Times New Roman 12 font, and double spaced. Neither version must exceed 5,500 words. Specific sections of the journal may require fewer words.
6_ The bibliography, which will not be taken into account in the word count, must be reduced to a minimum and correspond to explicit references in the text. All publication information of works cited must be included, and authors must be very careful to specify when they are quoting other authors and to be faithful to the original. The bibliography and the quotes must adjust to the international norms of the American Psychological Association, available at https://normas -apa.org/wp-content/uploads/Guia-Normas-APA-7ma-edicion.pdf
7_ Authors will also include an abstract in the original language of the article, written in the third person and with a length of approximately 100 words, and an English translation of this abstract.
8_ Authors must include keywords listed in the Psychoanalytic Thesaurus of the Argentina Psychoanalytic Association (Asociación Psicoanalítica Argentina, APA) in the article’s original language and in English. The Thesaurus is available at https://www.apa.org.ar/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/alfabeticosimple.pdf
9_ If the paper is accepted for publication, authors must sign an authorization form where they legally give up their rights. As a result, the written, printed, or electronic reproduction of the paper will only be possible with the explicit and written authorization of the editors.
